The Seattle public schools are found in Seattle, Washington USA. The Seattle School District is the 44th largest in the United States and the largest public school district in Washington having 47,449 students in 2002. The district is composed of 62 elementary schools, eleven middle schools, sixteen high schools, eight K-8 schools and one K-12 school in the district. There are 46,070 students in the district as of October of 2005. This population includes 2.3% of native Americans, 22.4% are Black, 22.8% are Asian, 41.1% are White and 11.5% are Hispanic. Students who are on reduced or free rice meal programs are in 40.8%.
The Seattle Public School’s Advanced Learning Programs serve the student’s learning need specially those who are academically gifted and academically highly gifted. This also includes the high achievers and motivated learners through the programs that provide accelerated and rigorous curricula. The district is currently addressing content areas beyond mathematics and reading such as science and social studies for all the advanced learning programs.
As of October of 2007, the district has received 3,398 nomination forms now that the Advanced Learning Nominations are in. They are undergoing a process of building a testing database which uses the student ID’s coming from the parent forms pulling the student’s demographic information from the eSIS or the Seattle Public Schools student database. |
