The Peninsula School District or PSD is the major school district in Gig Harbor in ther state of Washington and other areas around the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula. The areas include Arletta, Longbranch, Rosedale, Artondale, Vaughn, Wollochet, Home, Kopachuck, Wuana, Purdy, Crescent Valley and the Lakebay area. It is located across the Puget Sound from Deattle or Tacoma area. It covers 120 sq. miles on the two peninsulas. The district consists of 15 schools, which are composed of 3 high schools, 4 middle schools, and 8 elementary schools. The district aims to provide high quality education and an interactive approach among the students. It also has an estimated 8,750 students. PSD is one of the most innovative and the strongest districts located in Washington. Terry Bouck is their superintendent.
The students of this district have consistently provided above average skills in the WASL or the “Washington Assessment of Student Learning”. The SAT scores of PSD’s students in mathematics and reading are higher than the national average. Most of the teachers in PSD have master’s or doctorate degrees. IT also has a lot of awards and has achieved academic excellence throughout the years.
In 2004, the district has received a “Aa3” bond rating from the Moody’s Investment Services of New York. This shows that the school has excellent financial management systems. |
