The Aldine Independent school District (AISD) covers 111 sq. mi. in the County of North Harris. The district is located 15 miles north of downtown Houston, Texas USA. It includes a diversity of communities. It is one of the twelve largest school systems in the state of Texas. It serves the cities of Aldine, Greenspoint, Northline Ter, Hidden Valley, Acers Homes, Inwood Forest and bordersville. The school system is part of the taxation base for the College District of North Harris Montgomery Community.
The student population is roughly about 56,000 and is gradually increasing every school year. This school district is mostly minority school. Hispanics or Latin Americans are 60.8 percent, African Americans are 32.2 percent and whites are 4.8. Half or the students here are limited with only the English language. More than 7,000 people are employed within the district. About 4,000 of those 7,000 employees are teachers.
The AISD holds official approval from the “Texas Education Agency”. This independent school district has won awards like the “Broad Prize for Urban Education”. AISD is also one of the state’s high-performing school districts. The district also earned 7 ratings in recognition (since 1996) and the “2nd best large school in the state”. |
