The Kent
School District #415 is placed fourth at the list of largest school district in the State of Washington. The school district employs 3,389 employees to provide educational services to over 26,800 students coming from 73 square miles of land from the cities of Kent, Covington, Maple Valley, Renton, Black Diamond and some areas from King County in Washington.
The district operates with 28 elementary schools, 6 middle, 4 high schools and 2 academies totaling to a number of 40 schools. They offer career and technical education programs, special services, athletics and activities and student services all throughout their calendar school year.
Although there have been numerous lawsuits and controversies surrounding Kent School District, they were able to come out of it and still provide academic excellence through their various student support services and special programs. The district’s Board of Directors consists of five members who are elected by the registered voters of the district. Kent School District receives funds from various sources, the largest source, about 53%, coming from the State in the form of ‘apportionment’ or known as State General Purpose Funding.
