The School District of Palm Beach County ranks fifth in all of school districts in Florida and is number eleven in the list of largest public school districts in the United States. In 2007, it provided educational services to 170,000 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade and employment to over 21,600 employees of the 185 public schools encompassing in all of Palm Beach County, Florida.
The Florida Department of Education has granted the School District of Palm Beach County with ‘A’ ratings for three consecutive years in recognition of their excellence on student performance in FCAT. These recognitions and awards have gained the school district accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Aside from 37 charter schools, the district also boasts of its 58 magnet programs, 51 career academies in 51 schools, 32,600 community volunteers providing academic assistance in their Volunteers in Public Schools Program, 533 business partners offering pools of resources, almost 40,000 modern computers available to students and teachers, 26 community schools, an Adult Education Center, 100 National Board Certified teachers and several other educational and community projects that earned three of the district’s schools to be on the TOP Forty High Schools list conducted by Newsweek magazine. |
