The San Juan School District is situated in the south-east corner of the state of Utah. Majority of the students in the district are Native-Americans for it covers the portions of the “Navajo Indian Reservation”. The districts geographical location makes the students isolated and is a major disadvantage when it comes to interaction and educational technologies. It has a total number of 12 schools. 6 of these schools are elementary schools, 1 middle school and 5 high schools. The district’s unemployment rates are higher than the national average. In fact, it is 300% higher. This created the need to address issues about poverty.
The Education Foundation of San Juan was created to provide additional support in terms of education and assistance. Ten volunteers make up the foundation’s board. The recent donations have helped a selection of valuable endeavors to be instigated and implemented. Unemployment rates are 300% higher than the national average. This creates issues of poverty. Despite all this, the district’s foundation made a way to solve this problem. Awards and recognition were given to the district’s foundation as well as to the students that the foundation had helped. Until today, the district is striving to be in line with the other school districts in the USA. Programs are planned to give quality education among the students. |
